Lappiesbaai Tidal Pool

Goukou River

The beautiful Goukou River is ideal for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing and swimming. The calm estuary waters are safe for all ages, and the riverbanks are perfect for a peaceful picnic.

Beaches & Coastal Walks

Stilbaai boasts kilometres of unspoiled sandy beaches. Take a long walk along the shore, collect shells, or simply relax on the sand. The Morris Point and Skulpiesbaai beaches are particularly beautiful.

Whale Watching (June — November)

Southern Right Whales visit the Stilbaai coast each year to calve in the sheltered bays. Watch these magnificent creatures from the shore — no boat trip needed! Humpback Whales and Bryde's Whales are also spotted regularly.

Stilbaai Golf Club

A scenic 9-hole golf course with stunning ocean views. The club welcomes visitors and offers affordable green fees. A favourite for golfers looking for a relaxed round in a spectacular coastal setting.

Stilbaai Harbour

The small fishing harbour is the heart of the town. Buy fresh fish directly from the boats, enjoy seafood at the local restaurants, or simply watch the fishermen at work. Boat trips along the coast are also available.

Stilbaai is easily accessible from major cities in the Western Cape

How to Reach Stilbaai

From Cape Town: Approximately 3.5 hours via the N2 highway (340 km). A scenic drive along the coast with beautiful stops along the way.

From George / George Airport: Approximately 1.5 hours via the N2 (110 km). George Airport (GRJ) is the nearest airport with daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town.

From Mossel Bay: Approximately 45 minutes via the N2 and R305 (70 km).

From Swellendam: Approximately 1 hour via the N2 (100 km).

The final stretch along the R305 to Stilbaai winds through rolling farmland and fynbos — a beautiful introduction to this special part of the coast.
